PRODUCTION
I started getting involved in live production off the back of the audio skills I learned creating keys patches for live worship at church.
On top of the skills I then developed recording and mixing tracks for myself and for online church, it meant when I was asked to set up the sound system on the old X32 we had when I arrived at St Peter’s Vauxhall, I had something (an admittedly small something in the dark magic world of audio mixing) to go off.
Even since then, when possible I have generally left the actual audio mixing to the pros… but it hasn’t stopped me developing and running the rest of the production at both church plants I was lucky enough to work for, St Peter’s Vauxhall and New Street Falmouth! At both I was tasked with setting up the production capability of the church and leaving it in a place it could be run by other staff and volunteers.
This has involved screen graphics, lighting, stage setup/aesthetics, audio, background music and a little bit of live-streaming.
Below are a few of the assets I left with New Street to try to ensure the smooth running of live production after I had left the country.
New Street Production Handbook
In here you will find everything (aside from audio) needed to run the New Street production desk, from the aims and requirements of the team all the way down to lighting diagrams, checklists and crib sheets. I am even told it is still used…
New Street Lighting Vlog
Made just after I had got into vlogging, this still quite slow moving video shows how to set up the basic lighting we had at the church, given it had to be taken down in between services and re-setup. Maybe play it at 2x speed if you do give it a watch.
New Street ProPresenter Preparation for Sundays
Given my passion for on-screen graphics, this probably would be the most boring video you ever watched. I think there should be a 10x speed button on YouTube for 40 minute videos like this, but if you want a glimpse into the ProPresenter 7 setup I created for New Street, this is the best way to see it (unfortunately, sorry… 😬)
New Street 5 Minute Countdown
Finishing up with something I am genuinely proud of, this is a 5 minute countdown I created and left with New Street to be used at the start of services. Make sure to watch the 10 second countdown towards to end for the exciting bit…
